Indie 103.1 was launched in early 2004 in Los Angeles, and immediately captured the attention of the city's music literate, with a deep playlist, moderate playlist rotation, and specialty show hosts by the likes of ex-Sex Pistol Steve Jones and Mr 2.13.61 himself, Henry Rollins. The goal of the owner was to steal some of KROQ's power, but Indie 103.1 has emerged as a version of commercial 'almost free-form' alternative rock, touching music KROQ would never play and that is rarely heard on LA's airwaves.
